Harris Falters in Key States as Trump Gains Ground: Republicans “Must Keep Fighting”

New polling data reveals Vice President Kamala Harris is losing momentum in key battleground states against former President Donald Trump, underscoring the urgency for Republicans to keep up the pressure and campaign for the good of the nation with just weeks until Election Day.

According to a New York Times/Siena College poll released on Saturday, Harris and Trump are locked in a tight race in Michigan, with Harris at 48% and Trump at 47% – a virtual tie that highlights the vulnerability of the Vice President’s campaign. In Wisconsin, Harris holds a slight edge, leading 49% to Trump’s 47%, while Trump has surged ahead in Ohio, leading 50% to Harris’ weak 44%.

Separate Fox News polls in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, released on Friday, paint a similar picture of Harris’ struggles. The candidates are deadlocked at 49% in Pennsylvania, a state Harris desperately needs to win. Meanwhile, in North Carolina, Trump is carving out a small but significant lead, standing at 50% to Harris’ 49%.

GOP Push to Protect America’s Future

These results show that Trump’s campaign is gaining traction, but Republicans must continue to campaign hard to protect the values and security of the United States. The stakes couldn’t be higher. Republicans know that a strong showing in these battleground states is crucial not only for winning the White House but also for ensuring that Democrats can no longer push their disastrous policies.

“The fight is far from over, and every Republican needs to step up and make sure we secure these critical states,” said a senior GOP strategist. “The country’s future is on the line, and we need leaders who will defend American values and not cave to political correctness.”

North Carolina Gubernatorial Race Shows Weakness in Democratic Strategy

The Fox News poll also highlights a major Democratic stumble in North Carolina’s gubernatorial race. Republican Josh Stein has expanded his lead to 56% over his embattled Democratic opponent, Mark Robinson, who is languishing at just 40%. Robinson’s campaign has been mired in controversy since explicit posts he made on an adult website resurfaced earlier this month, illustrating a lack of judgment that has eroded voter confidence.

Trump Momentum Builds in Key States, But Democrats Desperate to Hold On

The recent NYT/Siena survey comes just days after another poll showed Trump slightly pulling ahead of Harris in critical Sun Belt states like Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina. Harris had been leading in these states as recently as August, but Trump’s ability to close the gap quickly has turned them into highly competitive battlegrounds.

Despite Harris’ setbacks, Democrats are using every trick in the book to hold onto power. While the media focuses on minor fluctuations in polling, Republicans understand that Trump’s surge in these states is a sign that Americans are rejecting the Biden-Harris agenda. The GOP must continue to drive home the message that strong leadership is needed to restore order and secure the nation’s borders.

Down-Ballot Democrats in Trouble

Even more troubling for Democrats is that Trump’s rising support isn’t translating into down-ballot success for their party. The NYT/Siena poll shows that three Trump-endorsed Republican challengers are trailing behind Democratic incumbents in key Senate races in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio, indicating that voters are fed up with Democrats’ failed policies at the state and federal levels.

In Wisconsin, 50% of likely voters support incumbent Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin, while only 43% back Republican challenger Eric Hovde. In Michigan, Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin leads with 47% compared to Republican Mike Rogers at 42%. And in Ohio, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown is ahead with 47% support, against 43% for Republican Bernie Moreno.

Republican Candidates Need to Keep Pushing for a Red Wave

Despite these figures, the GOP remains optimistic that Republican candidates can still turn the tide. With Harris stumbling and Trump gaining ground, Republicans must push harder to secure victories that will break the gridlock and halt the Biden-Harris administration’s reckless agenda.

“We can’t afford to let up now,” said another GOP campaign strategist. “Republicans need to keep hitting the campaign trail and drive home that America deserves leaders who put the country’s security and prosperity first.”

A Tumultuous Summer and a Critical Moment for Republicans

The latest polling data comes on the heels of a summer filled with dramatic political developments, from President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race to a series of attempts on Trump’s life that shook the nation. Trump and Harris also faced off in a heated debate earlier this month, widely seen as a decisive win for Trump, who showcased his readiness to lead and tackle the critical issues facing America.

Vice-presidential candidates Tim Walz and JD Vance are set to square off on October 1, giving Republicans another opportunity to contrast their message of strength and stability against Democrats’ wavering positions.

Polling Methodology

The New York Times/Siena College poll was conducted through phone interviews among 688 likely voters in Michigan, 687 in Ohio, and 680 in Wisconsin between September 21 and 26. The margin of error is +/- 4 percentage points for each state poll and +/- 2.5 percentage points when the three state polls are combined.

Fox News’ Pennsylvania poll was conducted between September 20-24 via phone and online surveys among 775 likely voters, with a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points. Their North Carolina poll, conducted during the same period, had a similar margin of error among 787 likely voters.
